Honestly, this project deserves at least 2-3 Medium articles, but in typical designer fashion, we never got around to it.
Uber Rewards was the loyalty program for riders on the Uber platform and was the longest project I worked on at Uber. We ran through the complete design process, from sprints and research to design QA over the course of 4 months, with many small product design cycles within for each particular feature. Beyond the MVP, I’ve designed systems/platform design work as well as iterations on initial MVP features and the platform.

Uber Rewards was the loyalty program for riders on the Uber platform - it is now defunct, as of late 2022. The MVP took a lot of blood, sweat and tears. It was an incredible project to work on, with significant impact to the company’s future: it highly influenced the Driver Loyalty program, which was being built around the same time, and also was a precursor to Uber’s current multi-platform loyalty program and subscription, Uber One.
It was also an extremely difficult project with stressful challenges. We had to interface with stakeholders and worked with individuals on dozens of other teams to create and build the program. Bottom line: many soft skills were acquired in the creation of this project.
We worked on this for almost a year. Our deadline was in November. We shipped on time. It didn’t leak to press or our competitors (I was surprised). We had a launch party in NYC. I’m so very grateful that I had the chance to work on a project with so much visibility.
